Meet Greg Cleveland, Chief Revenue Officer

The Omnumi team is rapidly expanding and the latest to join our ranks is new Chief Revenue Officer Greg Cleveland.

Greg has deep experience across tech, financial institutions, and emerging markets ranging at both startups and Fortune 500 companies. He’s also a bit of an F1 fan. The following is an edited version of our conversation with Greg.

Hey Greg, tell us a little bit about yourself!

Greg Cleveland: I discovered my passion for technology, design, and programming in college. My first job was at Ingram Micro, the largest distributor of computer products in the world. It was the perfect place to get a bird’s eye view of tech, and it’s where I developed relationships with early market leaders such as Microsoft, Lotus, Ashton Tate, and Oracle.

After a short sabbatical following the dotcom bust, I was again put in charge of an international business, this time a payments company called S2 Systems, with much of my time invested toward growing emerging markets in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

I continued on with tech and sales with a variety of companies until I was asked to set up an international business in Europe. That opportunity exposed me not only to different cultures and businesses around the world, but also to the ins and outs of banks and large government financial institutions. Family ultimately brought me back from my travels so I took a role at a startup, where I helped the CEO and CFO raise nearly $200 million to build a global commerce delivery network. It was one of the most fun things I ever worked on in my entire career, and I always vowed I would do something like that again.

After a short sabbatical following the dotcom bust, I was again put in charge of an international business, this time a payments company called S2 Systems, with much of my time invested toward growing emerging markets in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. When S2 was acquired by ACI, I became a consultant for the Bank of Thailand on their national payments network project. ACI was then acquired by FIS, where I stayed for 11 years. But a decade at a Fortune 500 company also made me hungry for the culture and challenge of the startup world, having gotten a taste all those years ago.

I later dipped my toes with a startup called Intellect Design, where we launched a new cash management platform. Then, during the pandemic, I hopped over to Technisys to join some of my previous colleagues, which is where I first met Kirk Chapman, who is now CEO of Omnumi.

What excites you most about Omnumi?

I’m thrilled to be working in a space that’s so cutting edge. There will be a lot of opportunities in bridging traditional systems with blockchain technology. We’ve assembled an incredibly sharp group with extensive compliance, identity, and financial services experience. And like I said, it’s also the chance to uphold that vow I made all those years ago.

We heard you’re an F1 fan!

I’ve always been a motorhead — I enjoy working on any machine or vehicle with a motor. I love riding motorcycles and have gone on some amazing rides throughout the U.S. and Europe. I’m a Formula 1 fan but also a Buffalo Bills fan, having grown up in Western New York.

I’m also a father of triplets. I give my wife all the credit for the great human beings they’ve all grown up to be. They say good things come in threes, and I can attest to that.
